October Snowmegeddon – pics

Here are the pictures that were supposed to be uploaded with the last post.  Apparently the cell tower let the text to go through… but not any of the pictures.

Also update:  Looks like we got about 7-10 days before power comes back on.  Whole town still at 100% power loss.  Was about 56 this morning in the living room this morning.  Which is why I slept in front of the fireplace last night.  My car’s windshield is now cracked due to the wonder weather colluding with the trees.  Luckily it’s covered with insurance and still drivable.

October Snowmegeddon

So… Although the calendar apparently says fall and October, the weather disagrees. Yesterday we got hit with a massive snowstorm. It started around noon. And quickly started coming down hard. I had hoped the recent hurricane got rid of all the dead and loose branches (since we didn’t have power for a week…) but I was wrong. Most of CT is without power, our entire town included (at 100% according to the power website).

We lost power a few times throughout the day but never for more than a minute or two. Then around 8pm bam. No power.

Luckily I was almost done making dinner and the left over heat cooked it he rest of the way. I had put coffee in the fridge for this morning already and had a fire going all day. I had even the fore-thought to fill up the tub so we could flush. Unfortunate, as I found out morning, the bath tub has a leak in the drain pipe so we had to move what water was left to ice chests.

All in all we have faired fairly well. We had a branch fall on our power line to the house during the storm but I was able to get it off before it did any damage or anything else fell on top of it Throughout the night we kept hearing branches crash to the ground, one of which ripped our neighbors lines off the side of their house. One branch did hit our house and caused some small damage to the roof over Callista’s room but nothing major.

We did get to enjoy some nice hot buttered rum and Callista some hot chocolate before we lost power. As well as Callista playing in the snow. I also tried to shovel once while it was snowing… By the time I finished shoveling 20 min later, where I started already had another 1/4 inch. Fun.

We got between 12″-18″ depending where you measure. Egads. Also so far no eta on when power will be back on some reports say to expect maybe up to a week Does not bode well for this winter.

UPDATE – Click here, or visit the next post for all the pictures….  Apparently the cell signal wasn’t strong enough to post more than just the plain text yesterday.

Hello Tropical Storm…

It’s like everyone is wearing the cult outfit of the rain sect…

Mariachi Band over at the Mexico Pravillion.  They were playing inside since it was pouring outside

DELICIOUS!!!! Check out my full review of the Mexico Tequila Tastings plus Lunch Review on my “professional” blog.

Dinner table layout and menu  for the tasting… anyone else know how to “Foolow”?

And more rain… Didn’t stop people from coming out to try all the booths.  Even if most of them were half covered up to protect form the wind and rain.

Although the rain was no match for a nice fresh hot Funnel cake.  It’ll warm a chilly person up real quick.

More rain, and people trying to get form place to place in it.

Animal Kingdom

Starts pouring on our way out of the park and over to Magic Kingdom.  Luckily most of the rain disappears by the time we get there….. for a while at least.

Headed over to the Jungle Cruise, but had to take some pictures of the Tiki Drums.

Nothing like some Cheesy Fries from Pecos Bills to warm up a cold body!

Astro Orbitors over looking the park

Had dinner over at the brewer on the Boardwalk. The beer cheese soup was lighter than that of Canada but still quite good.

The burger however… wasn’t bad… but wasn’t all that spectacular.  Price was reasonable for it though.
